Blog Post No. 1

Hi, there!

Welcome to my blog – moments with Meg.

You guessed it, my name is Meg; an almost thirty-something from Airdrie, Canada. I’m a lover of visual content and enjoy the story behind every photo. I decided to start this blog as a creative outlet to capture my hobbies, passions and the everyday moments in life.

Moraine Lake, Banff National Park

I peaked an interest in photography in 2016 when I made the decision to purchase my first DSLR camera, my beloved Nikon d3300. My long-term boyfriend Mike and I were about to depart on a year-long adventure living and travelling Europe and I decided that I could not get by utilizing the camera on my iPhone 4 (Yes – that’s right, I still have an iPhone 4. Don’t judge me. It does the job despite how slow it is, plus it teaches me patience!). This trip also taught Mike patience as I refused to shoot in Auto and was determined, through trial and error, that I was going to learn how to shoot in Manual mode. Fast-track a year later my photography has improved greatly and Im extremely proud of the skill Ive learned. However I am nowhere near an expert and definitely have  much more to learn. That’s what makes having a blog more exciting as I plan on using photography to illustrate all of my posts and will be constantly working to improve this skill.

Aside from photography I have a number of smaller hobbies that occupy my time:

  • cooking (and baking!)
  • gardening
  • fishing
  • and travelling to name a few….

Whether its a new recipe I decided to try, a garden project I’ve chosen to tackle, a fishing spot Mike and I explored as well as recaps of our time abroad, these are just some of the topics I plan to share with you.

So sit back, relax and get ready for post number two……..
